『変容と境界』
多くの写真家たちが日常の写真を美術として表現してきました。
だれでもいつでも同じ質の画像をキャプチャできる現代において、私は日常の写真がどの時点から美術として変容するのか興味があります。その境界はどこにあるのでしょうか。
日常の微細な変化に着目し、興味の背景について考察しました。
『日常へのまなざし』
撮影するにあたり設けたルールは２つ。誰にでも撮れる被写体であること、目の前にある物事を丁寧にとらえること。
撮影した写真からイメージを取捨選択し、できあがった写真群にまた新たに撮影した写真を追加しました。
この追加と選択を繰り返した写真群について考察することにしました。
『失われた世代』
制作にあたり、私は主体性のない写真を意図的に構築できるかどうか、一方でそれを承認できるかどうかを自問しました。
過程において、日常の無意味なものに価値を求め（無価値の有価値化）、脈絡のない断片の組み合わせに魅力を感じていました。これは文脈が必要とされてきた西洋美術の歴史とは異なり、失われた世代と言われてきた私たち世代の独自の価値観と考えています。私の日常へのまなざしは特別なものではなく、世代的な背景のなかで構築されたものと考えているのです。
日常風景において絶対的な景観と退廃的な景観は等価値なのでしょうか。自然の美しさと人工的な美しさは等価値なのでしょうか。視覚における有価値と無価値の関係性は本来の役割と一致するのでしょうか。その境界はどこにあるのでしょうか。
"Transformation and Boundary"
Many photographers have expressed everyday photography as art.In today's world where anyone can capture images of the same quality at any time, I'm curious about when everyday photography transforms into art. Where is that boundary?Focusing on the minute changes in daily life, I considered the background of my interest.
"Looking into everyday life"
There are two rules for shooting. Being a subject that anyone can take, and carefully capturing the things in front of you. Images were selected from the photos taken, and new photos were added to the completed photo group. I decided to consider a group of photographs that repeated this addition and selection.
"We Lost Generations"
In making it, I asked myself if I could intentionally build a non-independent photo, while approving it.In the process, I sought value from everyday meaningless things (valued worthless), and I was fascinated by the combination of non-contextual fragments. This is different from the history of Western art, where context has been needed, and I think it is the unique value of our generation, which has been called the lost generation. I think that my eyes on everyday life are not special, but built in a generational background.Do the borders of value and worthlessness in vision always match the role of things? Are absolute aesthetic landscapes and decadent aesthetics of equal value? Where is that boundary?
